Fisker Adopts NACS Charging Standard, Opening Supercharger Access; Ocean Delivers Double-Digit Profitability

FISKER INC. -
Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) (“Fisker”), driven by a mission to create the world’s most emotional and sustainable electric vehicles, will provide customers with access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.

The company announces that it has signed an agreement with Tesla to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) on its first vehicles in 2025. The move will provide Fisker owners with additional charging options, taking advantage of Tesla’s 12,000 Supercharger stations in the United States and Canada. All current and future Fisker vehicles will be covered by the agreement.

Fisker customers will utilize a NACS adapter to plug in at Superchargers starting in Q1 2025. Fisker will later update vehicle engineering to include an NACS inlet. A CCS adapter will be provided so that customers can continue to charge using that standard.

Fisker Ocean Has Lowest Carbon Footprint of Any Electric SUV

FISKER INC. -
Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) (“Fisker”), driven by a mission to create the world’s most emotional and sustainable electric vehicles, today released its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) report – a cradle-to-grave analysis that details the carbon footprint of the Fisker Ocean all-electric SUV. With the lowest published carbon footprint of any electric SUV in its market segment, the “world’s most sustainable vehicle” lives up to its ambitious promise, from raw material extraction to beyond “end of use.”

“Since we founded Fisker Inc., building the most sustainable electric vehicles is not just a marketing slogan; it’s core to our culture,” Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said. “It means shifting antiquated thought processes from across a 100-year-old industry, challenging the supply chain down to the most minute details, working with partners to improve the way cars are assembled, the energy they are charged with, and working on the way our vehicles are recycled after they come off the road. Our LCA confirms that climate neutrality has been a priority, since well before we started building vehicles.”

Unique in the industry, Fisker built sustainability into its strategy well before becoming a publicly traded company. Fisker prioritizes using the lowest possible amount of virgin materials, delivering the most energy-efficient vehicles possible, evaluating how to ensure the least amount of material goes to landfill at end of use, and developing methods for full vehicle and battery reuse and recycling. The company’s emphasis on supporting a “circular economy” includes prioritizing how battery materials may be pushed back into upstream sourcing.

“The results are clear: The carbon saved by choosing a Fisker Ocean over an average gasoline vehicle equals the carbon sequestered from 39 acres of US forests,” added Fisker. “We challenge every partner and find like-minded suppliers that strive to do better. It’s no accident the Fisker Ocean is made in a factory powered by renewable energy. This is only the beginning. We will strive to improve every step of the way as we move toward the upcoming Fisker Alaska, PEAR, and Ronin vehicles.”

Fisker’s LCA is unique in the industry in that it utilizes mostly primary data rather than estimates. Tier 1 suppliers are pushed to provide accurate carbon accounting, while the company’s processes, measurement, and the impact of the earth and the atmosphere are transparent at unprecedented levels. It can be read here.

Fisker has commenced vehicle deliveries in both the United States and Europe, following a unique dual-market certification strategy as it launched simultaneously. The Fisker Ocean One is a launch edition model of the $68,999[1] Fisker Ocean Extreme, with a 113 kWh battery pack (106 kWh usable) and an EPA range of 360 miles[2] on standard 20” wheels and tires, which is the longest range of any new electric SUV in its class[3]. Fisker to Open China Delivery Center in 2023, Start of Deliveries Projected for Q1 2024

FISKER INC. -
Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) (“Fisker”), driven by a mission to create the world’s most emotional and sustainable electric vehicles, today announced its plans to open a delivery center in China in 2023 and commence deliveries of the Fisker Ocean SUV in Q1 2024.

“After beginning deliveries in Europe and with first vehicles coming to our US customers on June 23, we are excited to move into the Chinese market later this year,” Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said. “We expect China to be an important growth market for EVs in the future and believe our vehicles will be very appealing. That is why we established an office there and intend to open a delivery center this year. I believe we can get production up and running in China as early as next year, potentially adding capacity of 75,000 Fisker Oceans annually.”

At Fisker’s annual shareholder meeting, held June 6, China board member Daniel Foa outlined the company’s advantages in the country.

“Firstly, China represents a third of global vehicles sales, which is roughly 26 million cars in 2022, of which electric vehicles represent 6-7 million, around a 25% share,” he said. “In 2023 year-to-date, that has grown to around 27%. Secondly, the premium and affordable luxury segment is growing faster than general segments. Fisker fits right in that segment with its unique history, features, and design.”

“China has always had a high acceptance of high-quality traditional international automotive brands.” Foa added. “There has been a rapid shift to electrification both from government policies and consumer behavior. Fisker is one of only two EV only international companies which are viable alternatives to traditional brands. This will enable us to be on the short list for consumer purchase decisions but with a more feature rich product. As a new international EV brand, this presents a vast opportunity for Fisker in China.”

Fisker’s leadership team recently visited China and met with officials and business leaders in Shanghai to discuss collaborations and opportunities in the region. The conversations focused on automotive supply chains, logistics, warehousing, and future production development.

With a 113 kWh battery pack (106 kWh usable) the $68,999 Fisker Ocean Extreme has an EPA-estimated range of 360 miles[1] on standard 20” wheels and tires; in Europe the Fisker Ocean Extreme has a WLTP range of 707km/440 UK miles[2] on standard 20” wheels and tires, which is the longest range of any electric SUV sold in Europe today. The all-electric SUV starts at $37,499 for the Fisker Ocean Sport trim level.

[2] This WLTP range number applies to Fisker’s European markets. WLTP measurements conducted on Fisker Ocean Extreme with standard 20” and optional 22” wheels. Actual range will vary with conditions such as external environment, vehicle configuration, wheel size and vehicle use.

Fisker Inc. reveals world's first digital radar in a production vehicle, bringing state-of-the-art safety to Fisker Ocean all-electric SUV

FISKER -
Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) (“Fisker”) – passionate creator of the world's most sustainable electric vehicles and advanced mobility solutions – is showcasing its Fisker Ocean all-electric SUV at CES in Las Vegas, highlighting the vehicle’s state-of-the-art Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

Called Fisker Intelligent Pilot, the ADAS platform integrates four types of sensors: an industryleading surround-view camera suite, a camera-based driver-monitoring system, ultrasonic technology, and a Digital-Imaging Radar System that Fisker expects will be first to market when the Fisker Ocean begins production in November 2022.

“Our asset-light, rapid-product-development business model enables us to bring these state-ofthe-art active safety systems to market earlier than our competition,” Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker said.

“Fisker Intelligent Pilot and Fisker Digital-Imaging combine reliable ADAS cameras with first-tomarket 4D digital radars, giving owners industry-leading safety to go along with a $37,499 price for the Fisker Ocean Sport and over 350 miles of all-electric range for the top-of-the-line Fisker Ocean Extreme and Fisker Ocean One launch edition.”

The Fisker Ocean’s cameras are sourced from one of the market leading suppliers and provide latest-generation vision capability, with a front-facing 8-megapixel camera delivering the highest resolution currently available in a vehicle. The 360-degree camera system enables base-level object detection from proven technology used on tens of millions of vehicles globally.

Fisker’s industry-first, Digital Code Modulation-based radar system uses five units positioned around the Fisker Ocean to confirm and enhance what the cameras see. The system also provides an additional degree of perception in conditions of bad weather and excessive sun glare, and performance superior to analog radar systems. The Fisker Digital Radar, for example, can locate vehicles at 200 meters (656 feet) and pedestrians at 80 meters (262 feet).

The system can also better distinguish its surroundings in environments of high light-dark contrast, such as in tunnels and on bridges, and differentiate objects of varying sizes and speeds on highways, such as cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Additionally, Fisker Digital Radar can separate objects from backgrounds and detect low-lying roadway obstructions.

With its features working together, Fisker Intelligent Pilot’s perception stack with camera and radar sensor fusion makes better decisions at highway speeds, in city traffic, and in poor weather.

To ensure that the driver is attentive when the system is engaged, Fisker Intelligent Pilot uses an A-pillar-mounted interior camera that monitors for drowsiness and concentration.

Fisker Intelligent Pilot features standard on the $68,999 Fisker Ocean Extreme and Fisker Ocean One include:
• 360-degree Surround View with 3D
• Door Opening Warning
• Park My Car - automatic parking spot finder
• Park Assist with Wheel Guard - parallel parking aid
• Adaptive Drive Control
• Automatic Emergency Braking – Premium

• Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning
• Traffic Sign/Light Recognition
• Front and Side Collision Warning
• Lane Change Assist
• Lane Keep Assist
• Intelligent Speed Assist
• Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance
• Blind Spot Monitoring

[Sport and Ultra trim levels each come equipped with the full ADAS hardware system and a subset of the software-enabled features above. Fisker expects to offer additional features as over-theair delivered options, provided at the point of sale or post-purchase.]

Ford Bronco Sport Becomes First Vehicle to Feature Parts Made of 100% Recycled Ocean Plastic

FORD CANADA -
Consumer products made from recycled ocean plastics include everything from sunglasses and T-shirts to running shoes and yarn. Now, Ford is adding to its legacy as a leader in sustainability and is the first automaker to use 100% recycled ocean plastics to produce automotive parts.

Wiring harness clips in Ford Bronco Sport models are made of ocean-harvested plastic – commonly referred to as “ghost gear.” The strength and durability of the nylon material equals that of previously used petroleum-based parts but with a 10% cost savings and requiring less energy to produce. The small parts represent a large first step in the company’s plans to produce other parts of recycled ocean plastics on other models.

“This is another example of Ford leading the charge on sustainability,” said Jim Buczkowski, vice president of research and Henry Ford technical fellow. “It is a strong example of circular economy, and while these clips are small, they are an important first step in our explorations to use recycled ocean plastics for additional parts in the future.”

Up to 13 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year, threatening marine life and polluting shorelines, according to Pew Charitable Trusts, a global nongovernmental organization. Much of that is attributed to the fishing industry, which has come to rely on plastic fishing nets and other equipment because of the durability, light weight, buoyancy and low cost of the material. Those same qualities contribute to creating ghost nets, a fatal and growing threat to marine life. Ghost gear comprises nearly 10% of all sea-based plastic waste, entangling fish, sharks, dolphins, seals, sea turtles and birds.

Invisible to vehicle occupants, the Bronco Sport’s wiring harness clips, which weigh about five grams, fasten to the sides of the Bronco Sport second-row seats and guide wires that power side-curtain airbags. Despite spending time in saltwater and sunlight, the material is as strong and durable as petroleum-based clips, Ford testing shows.

Spurring jobs creation throughout the development process, the plastic material is collected from the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea by DSM Engineering Materials. Items produced using plastics collected from the oceans include a wide range of consumer goods, but not until now have automotive parts been on that list.

The process begins with DSM harvesting discarded nylon fishing nets. The plastic is washed of saltwater, dried, and extruded to form small pellets, which are then injection-molded by supplier HellermannTyton into the desired clip shape. Ford is already planning additional parts using recycled ocean plastics, including transmission brackets, wire shields and floor side rails – all stationary parts with strength and durability demands that the material can meet or exceed.

“As a global leader in cable management innovation, HellermannTyton strives for eco-friendly ways to pave the path to a more sustainable future,” said Anisia Peterman, HellermannTyton’s automotive product manager. “Developments like this do not come easy, so we are proud to collaborate with Ford in support of a unique product solution that contributes to healthier oceans.”

The Ford legacy of using recycled plastic

For more than two decades, Ford has used recycled plastics not collected from oceans to produce various parts for automobiles. Most recently, the automaker used recycled water bottles to produce lightweight, aerodynamic-enhancing, noise-reducing underbody shields on the 2020 Ford Escape.

The introduction of parts made of recycled ocean plastic opens new opportunities and builds on a global effort to help reduce ocean debris that hampers sea life or, when harvested, further clutters landfills.

FISKER INC. -
Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) (Fisker) – designer and manufacturer of the world’s most emotion-stirring, eco-friendly electric vehicles and advanced mobility solutions – passed 14,000 reservations for its Fisker Ocean SUV, boosted by interest and orders from the fleet market globally. In Q4 last year, the company signed its first significant fleet order – for 300 vehicles - with Viggo, the technology-driven Danish ride-hailing service. Through the work of the Climate Group, over 100 of the world’s leading companies are making commitments to transition their fleets to EV by 2030, alone representing five million vehicles.

"We are encouraged by the interest being shown by the corporate sector towards enabling greater access to zero emission mobility,” said Fisker Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Henrik Fisker. “As more and more consumers and businesses are making the transition to electric vehicles, we are ready to partner with forward-thinking companies as they catalyze the shift to electric vehicles.”

Fisker is projected to start production on its first vehicle, the Ocean electric SUV, in Q4 2022. The Fisker Ocean will initially be manufactured in Europe and sold across multiple markets in Europe and North America. The company also recently announced it has signed an MOU with Foxconn to develop a breakthrough electric vehicle, codenamed ‘Project PEAR’.
