Greater Plant Capacity, Improving Efficiencies Support Lower F-150 Lightning Prices for Customers

FORD CANADA -
Ford is taking advantage of increased plant capacity, continued work on scaling production and cost, and improving battery raw material costs to help lower the MSRP of F-150 Lightning® for all customers.

The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan is temporarily closed to complete final plant upgrades to triple the plant’s annual run rate to a targeted 150,000 F-150 Lightning trucks beginning this fall.

The upgrades at the plant, combined with improving battery raw material costs and continued work on scaling production and cost, help make it possible to lower pricing across the F-150 Lightning line. Customers will now have greater availability of their built-to-order truck as early as October at an MSRP closer to initial Lightning pricing, with many dealerships also having stock and demo units.

“Shortly after launching the F-150 Lightning, rapidly rising material costs, supply constraints and other factors drove up the cost of the EV truck for Ford and our customers,” said Marin Gjaja, chief customer officer, Ford Model e. “We’ve continued to work in the background to improve accessibility and affordability to help to lower prices for our customers and shorten the wait times for their new F-150 Lightning.”

With ordering now open and more inventory available at dealerships, Canadian customers can contact their preferred Ford dealer to discuss purchase financing and lease options for the 2023 F-150 Lightning. Customers can take advantage of the BlueOval Charge Network – the largest public charging network in North America – which will add access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers starting early next year. Commercial customers can also access Ford Pro Charging solutions to keep their F-150 Lightning powered up whether they need to charge at home or onsite at work.

The 2023 MotorTrend Truck of the Year, North American Truck of the Year, and Guide de l’Auto Truck of the Year, some F-150 Lightning models may become eligible for federal and provincial incentives in Canada under the newly reduced pricing. Customers can check applicable government websites to verify which electric vehicle models are eligible for rebates.

To learn more, customers can Build and Price the F-150 Lightning on ford.ca and can place an order through their preferred dealer in-store.

Shelby American Introduces Its Latest Generation Shelby Raptor, Its Most Polished Off Road Super Truck Ever

SHELBY AMERICAN -
Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. (CSBI:PK), has announced the latest generation Shelby Ford F-150 Raptor, the most polished off-road truck ever offered by the company. The 525-horsepower truck is now available in limited quantities through official dealers nationwide.

“Shelby American and Ford Motor Company have a tremendous history of working diligently together on high performance cars and trucks for enthusiasts worldwide,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. “We’re excited to continue that important legacy. The future is bright as our companies continue evolving the product line, so the public has even more choices for world-class Shelby vehicles through Ford dealer showrooms.”

The latest vehicle in the lineup builds upon Shelby American’s rich legacy.

“Carroll Shelby established Shelby American in 1962 and immediately pulled ahead of every automaker, just as he did on the track while a racecar driver,” said Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American. “An important part of his legacy was the idea of a high-performance street legal truck, which his team pioneered in the 1980s. When Ford introduced the first F-150 Raptor in 2010, Shelby began building super trucks based on that incredible vehicle. Our latest generation achieves handling, ride and power levels no one could envision when Shelby American started on this trail.”

In 2021, Ford introduced a fully redesigned F-150 Raptor that boosted its off-road capability with all-new five-link rear suspension featuring improved wheel travel and electronically controlled shocks along with upsized wheels and tires. The reengineered running gear features extra-long trailing arms to better maintain axle position on rough terrain, a Panhard rod and 24-inch coil springs. Next-generation FOX™ Live Valve™ internal bypass shocks with state-of-the-art electronic control technology offer position-sensitive damping adjustability.

The high output 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine delivers strong low-end torque for maximum towing and increased payload capability. The suspension design combined with more sophisticated engine management software means the truck can put more torque to the rear wheels for quicker starts off the line, faster acceleration and better throttle responsiveness while still delivering comfort, stability, handling, control and traction at speed.

The interior was completely redesigned to elevate the owner experience with style, comfort and utility. The truck features enhanced materials, new color choices and more storage. The new Ford Shelby Raptor has standard over-the-air updates and a new connected experience that can deliver potential features like shareable digital trail maps. There is also SYNC® 4 with cloud-connected navigation and voice search and the FordPass mobile app to check on the truck remotely and more.

“The Ford F-150 Raptor and Shelby version of the truck have improved every generation,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American Vice President of Operations and Chief Designer. “The latest Shelby Raptor boasts its best suspension system ever, giant 37-inch off-road tires on aluminum forged wheels, functional offroad bumpers and LED lighting for any occasion. It makes impressive power, can stay cool in the most severe environments and look handsome while doing it.”

The all-new 2021-2022 Shelby Ford F-150 Raptor delivers the rugged capabilities needed for outdoor adventure. The heavy-duty suspension and underbody were built to withstand the toughest conditions with its race-proven FOX Live Valve system. The suspension provides a smooth and comfortable feeling on pavement with aggressive control and stability at high speeds off-road.

Shelby American worked closely with partners like Fox, Ford Performance and Whipple to create its vision of the truck. Leveraging the new capabilities of the Ford Raptor, it has more power, refinement, technology and handling capabilities.

For 2021, the Shelby Raptor features new and better handling underpinning, 75 more horsepower, an additional cooling package and an exterior with rugged all-American styling. The Shelby Raptor strikes an imposing stance with its robust bumper system, bed chase rack system carrying a pair of spare alloy 18-inch wheels wrapped in 37-inch high-performance tires, functional fresh air hood, Shelby stripes and badges. Inside, the Shelby American theme continues across the leather seats, dashboard and floor mats.

“The Shelby Raptor has every creature comfort the new F-Series truck provides,” said Patterson. “And it has the capabilities to back up its bold looks. From skimming sand dunes to maneuvering the asphalt jungle, it’s by far our most polished off-road truck to date.”

The Shelby Ford F-150 Raptor, including the truck, start at $124,820 MSRP. The truck is available through select Tuscany and Ford dealers in North America. Each vehicle from Shelby American has a Shelby serial number that will be documented in the official Shelby Registry. The cars come with a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty including powertrain. Individuals interested in Shelby vehicle can visit their local dealer or go to (https://www.shelby.com).

Lend a Hand – and a Few Miles – to Your Friends Using Vehicle-to-Vehicle Charging on F-150 Lightning, F-150 Hybrid

FORD CANADA -
Usually when someone asks you to top them off, they’re holding a cool beverage in hand looking for a refill. But with the all-electric F-150 Lightning, customers can take service to another level by “sharing” miles with other electric vehicles – those built by Ford and other manufacturers – giving people additional range through vehicle-to-vehicle charging.

With available Pro Power Onboard, the 2022 F-150 Lightning and F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid trucks are high-energy power sources on wheels with multiple uses, thanks to their onboard generators and high-capacity battery systems. Now, Ford is offering another unique benefit to that list: vehicle-to-vehicle charging using the Ford-exclusive Pro Power Onboard 240-volt outlet.

“There are hundreds of benefits to Ford Pro Power Onboard – and we’ve added one more,” said Patrick Soderborg, Ford e-powertrain systems engineer. “Taking power on the road or having extra energy at home brings a lot of convenience and security, and using the F-150 Lightning or F-150 hybrid to top off a friend’s electric vehicle or help them during an outage is one of the many new benefits our customers gain from our Built Ford Tough electrified trucks.”

When connected to an F-150 Lightning or F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid with the optional 9.6 or 7.2 kilowatt Pro Power Onboard1, the Ford Mobile Power Cord charger can deliver Level-2 charging that’s estimated to add an average range of 32 km per charging hour on a Mustang Mach-E with extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive2. It will add up to 21 km of charge per hour on the upcoming F-150 Lightning, and will add an average range of 16 km per charging hour to a Ford E-Transit low-roof cargo van2.

Customers can easily take advantage of this capability, using a widely available power adaptor to link the Ford Mobile Power Cord to their truck. Once connected to the 240-volt Pro Power Onboard outlet, customers can use the Mobile Power Cord to charge a range of all-electric vehicles that use the SAE J1772 charge port. This includes the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Ford E-Transit electric van and the all-new 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup, as well as vehicles from other manufacturers3

The 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid pickup has an available 7.2 kilowatt Pro Power Onboard generator that can be used to power tools, accessories and the Ford Mobile Power Cord. This spring, the all-new 2022 F-150 Lightning – the first full-size battery electric pickup from Ford – will debut with the available 9.6 kilowatt Pro Power Onboard power source.

Electric vehicles open doors to new customer benefits

Just as cell phones and the internet changed our way of life, electric vehicles are poised to do the same with a wide range of new services and features. Leveraging the electric power generation and storage available in the new F-150 Lightning and F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, Ford is building in new features that give customers functionality, convenience and capability.

With F-150 Lightning, its power source can even be used to power a home using Ford Intelligent Backup Power. Instead of installing a home generator or battery backup, the truck can be used to power a typical-size home up to three days in the event if a power outage4. The compact electric powertrain also allowed Ford to create the first Mega Power Frunk – a front trunk that not only offers multiple power outlets but also provides up to 400 litres of lockable storage.

“There are so many new opportunities to innovate with features and functions made possible only through electrification,” said Soderborg. “This really hit home during the Texas power crisis last February, which left millions in the cold. F-150 Hybrid helped many Texans keep warm and powered up during those difficult times thanks to Pro Power Onboard – and we’re trying to do even more with F-150 Lightning.”
