BARRETT-JACKSON
Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, announced that American businessman and philanthropist George Shinn will auction a select offering from his expansive collection with No Reserve during the 2022 Palm Beach Auction, April 7-9, at the South Florida Fairgrounds. A diverse curation, the offering from the George Shinn Collection in Palm Beach will include more than 30 vehicles comprising originals and Resto-Mods spanning from the 1950s to the early ’70s, as well as hot rods and modern sports cars.

“Coming on the heels of Barrett-Jackson’s most successful auction in its 50-year history, we’re excited to roll into our highly anticipated return to Palm Beach with several remarkable collections,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We’re thrilled to feature the George Shinn Collection as part of that. Like myself, George has been passionate about cars since he was a child, and he has amassed an impressive collection over the years. His select offering in Palm Beach is reflective of the incredible quality and diversity featured throughout.”

Highlighting the vehicles from the George Shinn Collection is a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette 283/250 convertible. Finished in Charcoal Pearl with silver coves, this Corvette is a recent recipient of a body-off restoration. Powered by a fuel-injected V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, it is equipped with finned aluminum valve covers and a pair of ceramic-coated tubular exhaust headers coupled to the dual exhaust system. The interior features bright red vinyl and nestled in the dash is a push-button radio as well as the factory clock.

Another restored classic from the 1950s is a 1957 Ford Fairlane Sunliner convertible finished in two-tone pink and brown with a brown cloth soft top and matching brown-and-white interior featuring a bench seat and push-button radio. It is powered by the 321ci Thunderbird Special, a version of Ford’s Y-block V8 engine, equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust mated to a 2-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission.

The ever-growing market of Resto-Mods will also be represented strongly in Palm Beach by the George Shinn Collection. With both first- and second-generation Corvettes fueling the hobby as a great foundation for modern craftsmanship, this select offering will include a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette custom convertible and a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette custom coupe. The 1960 Corvette is powered by a GM LS7 454ci V8 crate engine mated to a modern TKO 5-speed manual overdrive transmission equipped with an Edelbrock Victor aluminum intake manifold topped with a Holley 4-barrel carburetors and custom aluminum intake. The original Corvette body is mated to a custom-built Art Morrison modernized frame utilizing late-model suspension geometry and features power rack & pinion steering as well as lowered suspension and polished aluminum Billet Specialties wheels with Toyo Proxes performance tires.

Finished in Elkhart Blue, the custom 1967 Corvette features a new Chevrolet LS3 aluminum V8 producing 430 horsepower mated to a TREMEC 5-speed transmission. The chassis was updated with front and rear coilover QA1 shocks as well as Hyperco springs and includes a set of Van Steel tubular A-arms, offset trailing arms and a power Wilwood disc brake system. The interior features a set of custom upholstered bucket seats, Vintage Air climate-control system and modern radio that appears factory original but features USB, MP3 and Bluetooth capabilities.

“The quality of the work and craftsmanship that went into restoring and building many of the cars in George’s collection is second to none,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “It is truly a remarkable collection, and I look forward to seeing many lucky Barrett-Jackson bidders take home these pieces of automotive history as they cross the auction block with No Reserve in Palm Beach.”

The select offering from the George Shinn Collection will also include desirable modern vehicles such as a 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S with only 152 actual miles. Finished in Designo Selenite Grey Magno featuring the AMG exterior carbon-fiber package, this 2018 AMG GT S model is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to an AMG 7-speed Speedshift dual-clutch transmission. With the exhaust manifolds and turbochargers nested inside the cylinder banks to minimize turbo lag, this engine generates 515hp and 494 ft/lbs of torque.
