INFINITI RED BULL RACING - New video footage is now available of Sebastian Vettel and David Coulthard driving the Sochi Circuit, giving their insight to a lap of Russia's new Formula One venue.
Vettel, Infiniti's Director of Performance, and Coulthard drove much of the track, which is still under construction, in a pair of Infiniti M cars and offered their thoughts and comments ahead of the Krasnodar Krai region's inaugural Grand Prix in 2014. A short animated sketch sequence completes a lap for Vettel, giving the most complete idea yet of what the new circuit will look like, including the long left-handed turn three that Coulthard dubbed the 'Infiniti Corner'.
Once complete, the 3.7 mile Sochi Olympic Park Circuit, which will host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, will be the third longest circuit on the Formula One calendar behind Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Silverstone in Great Britain. The circuit's integration into Olympic Park infrastructure is the key feature of the Russian venue.
The inclusion of the event in the 2014 Formula One calendar will be Russia's first Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, but marks the 100th anniversary of the last race to be held in Russia, which was a non-championship round in St Petersburg in 1914.
