Urban design and innovative mobility concepts: New developments from smart at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show

DAIMLER AG - At the International Motor Show in Geneva, smart's presentation will be focusing on the smart drive app 2.0 with its important new smart-specific functions and the design cooperation with Danish interior design specialist BoConcept. The brand will also be showcasing two unique special models, the smart fortwo BoConcept signature style and the smart fortwo edition cityflame.

smart was the first car brand to develop its own drive app for the iPhone in 2010. Now the company is presenting a brand new version in Geneva – the smart drive app 2.0. In addition to familiar functions such as weather, navigation, Google Maps and Facebook, this app also offers numerous unique new features that have been tailored to the smart brand and its customers. One such feature is "smart community parking", where smart users can upload information on parking spaces they have discovered that are suitable for smarts and pass this on to the community as insiders' tips.

smart, the car brand for urban mobility, and BoConcept, the Danish urban interior design specialist, are pooling their expertise in form and functionality. Together the design teams of both brands have created a collection of furniture and accessories and a smart fortwo cabrio. The "smart fortwo BoConcept signature style" and the "smartville collection" will be celebrating their Swiss debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Using a smart BRABUS cabrio as their starting point, the designers from smart and BoConcept developed a vehicle that unites design trends from both product worlds. The exterior has a sporty and very elegant appearance. At the same time the interior, which is dominated by natural materials such as leather and felt, has a warm, cosy character. As of March 2013 BoConcept Stores in various cities around the world will be using the smart fortwo BoConcept signature style as an agile brand ambassador.

The jointly designed smartville collection reflects the colour scheme and materials of the vehicle in the furniture and accessories. At the same time the functionality of the smart is the driving force. The heart of the collection is a modular sofa, whose standard length of 2.69 m corresponds exactly to the length of a smart fortwo.

A splash of colour: with its bodypanels in flame yellow the new special model smart fortwo edition cityflame is a real head-turner. In contrast, the tridion safety cell and alloy wheels are painted in black. The contrast is continued in the interior: the exclusive black seats in leather look have striking yellow imitation leather inserts and feature yellow stitching. The smart fortwo edition cityflame can be ordered now with prices starting at €14,490. The special model is available as a coupé and a cabrio and will reach dealers in April 2013.
