To honour and support these special students, Earth Day Canada and the Toyota Canada Foundation are proud to announce the 11th annual Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program – Canada's most widely recognized environmental entrance scholarship.
Graduating high school and Cégep students who are active in responding to environmental issues through school and community service are encouraged to apply for a chance to receive one of 20 regional post-secondary scholarships worth $5,000 each.
"The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship testifies to the amazing things youth do to make our world sustainable," said Darren Touch, a 2012 Toyota Earth Day Scholarship regional winner. "It's an amazing feeling knowing that your environmental efforts are being recognized. You don't know the impact you are having until someone points it out. It has provided me with a source of inspiration, motivation, and has given me renewed commitment to my environmental efforts to make the world a better place."
All students are reminded that the application deadline is February 15, 2013. Due the day after Valentine's Day, candidates should show how their hearts – and their minds – are helping the world become greener, and ensure their applications are submitted on time.
Once again this year, one of the 20 regional winners will be presented with the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship National Award – and will receive a special recognition in addition to the $5,000 scholarship.
Since the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program began, $800,000 of scholarship funding has been awarded to 160 students.
