Nissan Canada Inc. reports August sales


NISSAN CANADA - Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) reported August sales of 6,329 units, down 14.7 per cent over the same month last year. Nissan division sales were 5,549 units for the month, down 18.0 per cent. Sales of Infiniti tied its best August on record (2010) with 780 units sold, up 19.4 per cent over August 2011.
 
The completely redesigned Nissan Altima has started to arrive to Canadian dealerships, and coupled with the award-winning previous generation Altima, contributed to monthly sales with 963 vehicles - up an impressive 68.1 per cent from August 2011. Staying true to its robust appeal, the Nissan Titan continued its sales momentum this year with 397 units sold, representing its best month on record. Nissan's subcompact models recorded notable gains in August. The Nissan Sentra continues to be the top-selling vehicle in the Nissan portfolio with year-over-year sales up 66.3 per cent to 1,134 units sold, and sales for the fuel efficient Nissan Versa are up 23.2 per cent at 856 units.
 
Infiniti tied its best August sales record, with 780 units, an increase of 19.4 per cent and is tracking up 22.4 per cent calendar year-to-date. The all-new JX luxury crossover continues to be the top-seller in the Infiniti lineup, and August sales totaled 262 units. The Infiniti brand has posted year-over-year increases each month so far in 2012.

Canadians will see those key traits continue with the imminent arrival of the all-new Nissan Pathfinder and Sentra," said Allen Childs, President of Nissan Canada. "The Infiniti JX is helping to propel Infiniti to an incredible sales year as our luxury brand continues to post year-over-year increases."
 
NCI AUGUST 2012 HIGHLIGHTS:
 
• Infiniti Division sales are up 19.4 per cent with 780 units sold
• The all-new JX is Infiniti's most popular model with 295 units sold in August
• Sales of the Infiniti QX are up 44.8 per cent year-over-year with 42 units sold
• Nissan Titan sales set a new all-time record at 397 units
• Sentra is the strongest seller in the Nissan line-up with 1,137 units sold
• Altima sales totaled 963, up 68.1 per cent year-over-year
• Versa posted a year-over-year increase of 23.2 per cent at 856 vehicles sold
• The Nissan NV commercial vehicle line-up posted strong gains of 16.9 per cent with 83 units sold
• Nissan Division sales were 5,549 in August
