Nissan Canada inc. announces April sales results





NISSAN CANADA - Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) yesterday reported April sales results of 6,919 units, a decrease of 4.8 per cent over the same month last year. The Infiniti brand continued its strong 2012 sales momentum with its fourth straight month of growth. With the arrival of the all-new Infiniti JX luxury crossover, Infiniti sales for April totalled 612 units, a 9.1 per cent increase versus April 2011. Nissan sales totalled 6,307 this month, a year-over-year decrease of 5.9 per cent, while calendar-year-to-date sales for the Nissan brand are up 9.5 per cent.
 
With sales starting just over a week ago, the all-new Infiniti JX sold 85 units, reaffirming its relevance in the luxury seven-seater crossover segment. Sales of the Infiniti FX increased 27.1 per cent in April with 75 units sold. The G line-up continued to be the strongest seller in the line-up with sales of 301 units.
 
"We knew the Infiniti JX would pose an exciting alternative in the luxury crossover segment when it arrived in Canada and in just over a week we've recorded incredibly strong sales we expect to continue," said Wendy Durward, Director of Infiniti Canada. "The latest addition to the Infiniti family offers all the premium features, performance and innovations Infiniti is known for worldwide and an incredibly competitive starting MSRP of $44,900."
 
On the Nissan side, the Versa continued to be the strongest seller in the line-up with sales of 1,374, up 2.5 per cent over last year. The Nissan Rogue and Altima followed closely with sales of 1,289 and 1,257 units - up 24.8 and 56.9 per cent - respectively. Nissan Maxima and JUKE were also popular this month with sales up 33 and 10.8 per cent over last year (270 and 329 units), respectively. The all-electric Nissan LEAF continues to excite Canadians with 26 units sold. 
 
NCI April 2012 HIGHLIGHTS

Ø  Infiniti recorded April sales of 612 units sold, an increase of 9.1 per cent over April 2011
Ø  In just over one week, Infiniti recorded sales of 85 units for the latest addition to the line-up, the JX luxury crossover
Ø  Sales of the Infiniti FX jumped 27.1 per cent this month (75 units)

Ø  Calendar year-to-date sales for NCI are 28,029 an increase of 9.6 per cent
Ø  The top-seller is the Nissan Versa with 1,374 units followed by Rogue and Altima (1,289 and 1,257 units, respectively)
Ø  Sales of Maxima and Juke increased 33.0 and 10.8 per cent, respectively
Ø  Sales for the versatile Nissan NV were 85 units in April
Ø  All-electric Nissan LEAF sales totalled 26 units
