NISSAN CANADA - Yesterday, the Honourable Joe Oliver, Minister of National Resources, announced the Government of Canada's 2012 ecoENERGY for Vehicles Awards, recognizing the most fuel-efficient vehicles that are helping Canadians to save on fuel costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Nissan LEAF was recognized as the most fuel efficient vehicle in the mid-size class for 2012.
This award joins a long list of accolades for the Nissan LEAF since its launch in 2010, including recognition as the 2011 World Car of the Year. Since the first delivery of a Nissan LEAF to a consumer in December 2010, over 21,000 all-electric cars have been sold around the globe.
"With no tailpipe and absolutely zero emissions, it's impossible to beat the all-electric Nissan LEAF for fuel efficiency," said Judy Wheeler, Director of Marketing at Nissan Canada Inc. "The Nissan LEAF is just the first of many all-electric vehicles we will bring to market in our commitment to electric mobility. At this year's Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, visitors can see the e-NV200 concept demonstrating Nissan's all-electric technology applied to the commercial vehicle segment."
The Nissan LEAF has a range of 160km per full charge (EPA LA4 cycle) and with that, has the capacity to provide 90 per cent of Canadians with the range needed for daily commutes. At 107 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, the Nissan LEAF provides a highly responsive, fun-to-drive experience that is ultra-quiet due to an electric drivetrain.
At a starting MSRP of $38,395, the Nissan LEAF is well-equipped with a long list of standard features. Since its launch in 2011, 170 Nissan LEAFs have been sold in Canada.
