Amazon automotive news at CES 2022

AMAZON -
  • Amazon and Stellantis announced a series of global, multi-year agreements that will introduce new connected experiences across millions of vehicles. The collaboration will accelerate Stellantis’ transformation from a traditional automaker into a global leader in software-driven development and engineering.
    • Amazon will deliver software for Stellantis’ new digital cabin platform in millions of vehicles globally over the next decade, across Stellantis’ entire vehicle brand portfolio, starting in 2024.
    • Stellantis selected AWS as its preferred cloud provider for vehicle platforms.
    • AWS and Stellantis will launch collaborative engineering and innovation initiatives and tools to accelerate time to market for new digital products and upskill Stellantis’ global workforce.
    • Amazon will expand its sustainable delivery network as the first commercial customer for the new Ram ProMaster Battery Electric Vehicle in 2023.

  • Introducing a new Fire TV experience for the car. Customers will be able to use Alexa or on-screen touch controls to access over one million TV episodes and movies on Fire TV in-vehicle in the United States, including favorites such as from Prime Video. We’re also matching the Fire TV experience across devices with personalized settings, so Fire TV will look the same whether you’re looking at the TV in your living room or in your car. You’ll also be able to stop playback in your home and pick your show back up in the car. Fire TV will be available as an option in Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Grand Cherokee; Chrysler Pacifica, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator.

In addition to this news, BMW is showing a first-of-its-kind preview of Amazon Fire TV built-in to BMW’s new Theatre Screen. The experience is an immersive, theater-like experience for rear-seat passengers that offers the highest resolution and biggest display of any in-car Fire TV experience—all in 4k. We’ll have more to announce later this year on this integration, but you can find more details here.
