Scion Sessions Week unveils music line-up

TOYOTA CANADA - Scion Canada is pleased to unveil the complete music line-up for the inaugural Scion Sessions Week, taking place in Toronto from July 27 until August 4, 2012. Scion Sessions is dedicated to progressing the unparalleled creativity of Canadian music, and Scion Sessions Week exemplifies this in the form of seven music events programmed in diverse venues in downtown Toronto, ranging from grassy fields to  basements with over twenty-six artists - from rock bands on the cusp of breaking internationally to renowned electronic DJ's. Scion Sessions' mVIP program promises front-of-the-line access to many of these exclusive events. To join, visit scionsessions.ca/mVIP . [Complete listings for all events below.]

In addition to the live music events, many of these shows offer tangible take-homes, with limited-run exclusive recordings, digital downloads and freshly pressed free 7" vinyl records curated from a slice of the Scion Sessions artists. For music fans outside of Toronto, a fly-in contest extends Scion Sessions Week across the country, with the opportunity for 2 Canadians to travel to Toronto with VIP access to 4 nights of shows, and the chance to meet some of their favourite artists.

Scion Sessions Week kicks off with Happy Ending, a resurrected series of left-field electronic music in dim-sum restaurants. This edition features Berlin-based Brit DJ Scuba, and beat producers Egyptrixx and Exeter in the heart of Toronto's Chinatown. The Mad Decent Block Party kicks it up for free at Yonge-Dundas Square featuring label names Claude VonStroke, Riton, alongside Canadians A Tribe Called Red, Zeds Dead, Jacques Greene, and young jazz beat crew BadBadNotGood and more. Killabits bring drum and bass to the fold with their Bassmentality party at Wrongbar. The shows ramp up with an amazing free electronic Scion Sessions showcase including LA ethereal synth producer Nosaj Thing, a tripped out set from Doldrums, electro lo-fi from Beta Frontiers, and soulful mixes from Toronto producer Jesse Futerman. A free show yields loud sounds and a free split 7" from off-kilter noise rockers Young Widows, thrash punk rock from Coliseum and jangly guitar punk from Hamilton's TV Freaks.

Scion Session Week closes up with HARD Fest at historic Fort York with Justice, M83, Austra, Buraka Som Sistema, and Charlie XCX. Moombahton Massive brings Scion Sessions Week to a sweetly pitched tempo with SLOWED, featuring Ryan Hemsworth, Torro Torro, Lucie Tic and a special guest.
