Toyota Canada Inc. reports 3% year over year gain in October 2011 sales

TOYOTA CANADA - Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) today reported sales of 14,980 Toyota, Lexus and Scion cars, trucks and SUVs in October, 2011 – up 3.0% from the same month the previous year. This included an 8.5% boost to truck/SUV sales across Lexus and Toyota, for TCI’s best ever October truck sales.

·        Toyota sales were up 2.5% with gains in a number of key models.
·        Lexus sales were 0.7% higher with IS and RX series gains.
·        Scion sales were up 43.7%, with 355 lifestyle vehicles sold.

Trucks/SUVs
·        Toyota trucks up 8.8%
·        Tacoma 4x4 up 38.7% for the Tacoma’s best ever October
·        Highlander up 69.0%
·        Highlander Hybrid up 168.2%
·        Sienna up 22.2%
·        Venza up 22.5%

Cars
·        Avalon up 56.4%
·        Camry up 43.3%
·        Camry Hybrid up 137.9%
·        Prius up 15.8%

Canadian built
·        Matrix up 6.8%

Toyota’s Year End Countdown event features the following cash incentives:

·        Up to $4,000 on 2011 Avalon, Corolla, Matrix, RAV4, Tacoma and Venza
·        Up to $5,000 on 2011 Camry
·        Up to $6,000 on 2011 Camry Hybrid and Tundra

Lexus sales highlights for October 2011 (vs. October 2010)

·        Lexus luxury SUV sales up 6.4%
·        Canadian-built RX 350 up 22.5%
·        IS 250/IS 350 up 18.2%

Scion sales highlights for October 2011 (vs. October 2010)

·        Scion xD up 191.7%
·        Scion tC up 62.5%
·        Scion xB up 5.2%

“We have built positive momentum over the last year for the Scion brand here in Canada,” said Larry Hutchinson, Director of Scion in Canada. “Scion is geared to younger, trendsetting Canadians – and we’re pleased that in our first year of operations, 56% of our customers are under 35 while 62% are new to the Toyota family. We look forward to engaging with more young Canadian drivers in year two, which includes the launch of the all-new Scion iQ in November.”

New Leasing options

To help further the support of Canadian customers, Toyota / Lexus Financial Services also announced two new financing options for Canadian drivers to help with affordability in the market.
