Nissan Canada inc. announces July sales results

NISSAN CANADA – Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) released July sales of 7,523 units – a decrease of 9.6 per cent over July 2010 and up 2.5 per cent calendar year-to-date. Nissan sales accounted for 6,954 units, down 7.6 per cent over the same month last year, while Infiniti sold 569 units, a decrease of 28.2 per cent.

Late in July, NCI brought the all-electric Nissan LEAF to the Canadian market, selling 16 units to selected fleet partners. Public reservations will be open at the end of August. The Nissan JUKE had its best monthly sales in July with 429 units sold. Nissan SUVs and trucks continue to enjoy strong sales with best July sales ever for Armada with 45 units, Frontier with 293 units and Titan with 225 units sold. Nissan trucks, SUVs and vans, including the recently launched Nissan NV continue to drive Nissan's sales throughout 2011 with year-to-date sales totaling 15,337 units, a 15.5 per cent increase over the same period in 2010.

On the Infiniti side, the QX56 continues to perform well throughout 2011 with 35 units sold in July, a 52.2 per cent increase over July 2010 and 258 units sold this year-to-date, a 193.2 per cent increase over sales during the same period in 2010.

Following the best sales ever in June for NCI, shipping delays due to an ongoing labour strike at the Annacis Auto Terminal in Vancouver, were a challenge throughout the month of July.

"The strike at Annacis is affecting a number of automotive manufacturers," said Allen Childs, President of Nissan Canada. "Our customers understand that the situation is beyond our control and we are working to source vehicles for customers in the timeliest manner possible."
